    Storyline

    Edit
The latest murder is easily linked to several others in and outside New york state, 'revenge' for the recently released killer's trial. Alas, instead of him, in his home team Castle finds a bomb, armed. Even the bomb squad doubts if Becket can be safely removed from the pressure plate. While they work to disarm it, Castle keeps her spirits high by bantering over the cheeky history of their budding relationship. —KGF Vissers

    • Trivia
This episode was originally scheduled to air after "The Fast and the Furriest (2013)". Because of its subject matter, in light of the bombing at the Boston Marathon, it was postponed for a week and "The Squab and the Quail (2013)" was aired in its place.
    • Goofs
When Castle and Beckett call Esposito at the precinct and he puts them on speaker phone, you can hear them listing reasons over the phone. Beckett says the same reason twice in a row, once right as Ryan walks up, and the other while he is standing there listening.
    • Quotes

Kate Beckett: Hey, Castle, listen... Thank you for staying with me.

      Richard Castle: Always.

[they lean in to kiss, but police sirens stop them]

      Richard Castle: That's...

[Ryan, Esposito, and Captian Gates get out of the car and come over to Castle and Beckett]

Richard Castle: [to Ryan as they hug] Perfect timing.

      Kevin Ryan: Definitely.

Javier Esposito: [to Beckett] You good?

Kate Beckett: Yeah, did she see it?

      Javier Esposito: No.

Captain Victoria Gates: Glad to see you, Detective. Even you, Mr. Castle. I have to say, I don't know too many men who would've done what you did.

      Kate Beckett: Neither do I.

Captain Victoria Gates: [after a pause] Oh, for Heaven's sake Detective. Just kiss the man.

      [everyone looks shocked]

      Kate Beckett: Sir, you know?

Captain Victoria Gates: What? Do you think I'm an idiot? I needed to maintain plausible deniability, which I can continue as long as you two both act professionally at the precinct.

Richard Castle: I know I can, but, Captain, she has a long history of coming on to me at work...

Kate Beckett: I don't think it'll be a problem, sir.

Captain Victoria Gates: Good. Meanwhile, as long as we're on neutral ground here, I'd say, uh... he deserves it, wouldn't you?

Kate Beckett: Yes, sir, I would.

Flashback episode: We knew it was coming.
Just about every television series goes for the flashback episode sooner or later. Sometimes, they are obvious about it, sometimes they try to cleverly weave it into the storyline and fail. This is definitely the latter, except for the fail part. This is actually fun to watch, possibly because the flashbacks run just 5 or 10 seconds each, so we get to see a lot of them, many more than in most such episodes. Add to this, we get some really great acting. Pretty standard script, in my view, but there's not a lot of wiggle room in this oft-used storyline, so you have to depend on the actors to make it more than a cliché story. Fillion and Katic deliver.
