The best thing is the honest and accurate portrayal of Punjab, its culture and language. Though people don't use that much foul language, that's typical of any Netflix series based out of India. Still, the characters are local, and the shots are scenes in authentic villages. The story is OK but could have been improved. Other small personal stories of characters are neither related to the ongoing investigation nor are they much captivating-however, outstanding performances from all the cast members. Despite the average story, I would give eight stars for the originality shown. Small actions or scenes make you believe that characters are local and authentic.
Kohrra blew my breath away. Still thinking of the actors and the story and the setting and everything in the middle. Suvinder Vicky and Barun Sobti have delivered performances of their lifetime in Kohrra.
The sheer mental agony that a cop goes through in solving a complex murder case while dealing with his own personal demons has been shown in a raw and emotionally charged manner - you can't help but want to feel protective about him and root for him till the end.
The portrayal of Punjab's dark underbelly is eerily real - the twists, the messed up romance, the dark humour keep you gripped till the very end.

This is probably the third Indian series I have watched. All the ones I have watched have been of high quality. This series continued that strong streak. The series was multi-leveled and in a good way raw. The characters were believable and the actors were good. The series was somewhat emotionally cruel, but was ultimately warm at its core. I also appreciated the fact that there were only six episodes. This was quite enough to create depth, atmosphere, flow and still be slow burnish. I don't know, but this little bit reminded me of True Detective and I cannot quite point on why. It is also interesting to follow the cultural differences.
Kohraa is basically a investigation thriller that take you on a journey that unravels several brutal and dark aspects of families and relationships.
First, the pace ! I had a absolutely no problem with the pace. These series are made to move slowly and if one can't consume such slow burns should not watch and review them. The conversations and developments kept me hooked to the series despite its slow pace. What further kept me hooked was Barun Sobti's serious yet sometimes spot on humorous dialogues that come so naturally.
Second, this series is way more than an investigation. It takes us through the dark secrets of families and relationships. How jealousy starts to affect one person, how father's can become so possessive of their daughters that they don't care about their happiness but only want what her to do what they wish because they feel it's good for their daughters. We also get to see the drug condition in Punjab that comes across the investigation path rather than just showing it separately and giving lecture about it which was good. And lastly , nothing new, the acceptance of homophobia in Indian families that still remains a huge problem.
Third, the portrayal of Punjab is raw. You get to see what Punjab is exactly and not like how films show like people doing Bhangra everywhere or showing Punjabi families as typical cliched types . The series shows the rusty lanes of Punjab, the proper way in which they talk etc. There isn't much use of bgm so the series stays raw.
The dialogues of this film are close to realistic with no nonsense being shown. The climax is a shocker although many might predict it .
Everyone has done a terrific job in this series.
Overall, a great watch. If you love slow moving series that are gritty and real, this ones for you .

Loved it, yes I agree that it is a slow burn content, but what else you expect from suspense based crime thriller??? Those who are complaining I think they do not have ever watch mindhunter..now coming to the content, starting episodes were very engaging and I liked the subtle comedy between the characters..mid episodes I did find were bit slow might be due to lack of much twist or hooking point towards the end..I did find kidnapping segment useless..and best part about the series is how it ends..climax is ok, it won't disappoint you much.. there is a good resolve for each character at the end..which makes you feel good.
