Avery is the star of the high school drama program, and anxious to begin work on the annual production that is the focal point of her school life. In fact, she has already invited a representative of the prestigious Oxham Conservatory of Fine Arts to attend a performance. Upon returning from Winter Break, she learns that budgetary cutbacks have eliminated Drama altogether. She decides to produce her own musical in secret, Dusk, a no-budget hybrid of Twilight with Rent. Along the way she must deal with a sarcastically cruel principal, a frightening janitor, and former child star Chip Falcon. No matter what, the show must go on.
