The tale of college couldn't be told better than this movie
13 December 2013 | by angiequidimSee all my reviews

Commercial audiences usually don't know how to approach independent movies because they are used to big budget, special effects monsters that lack a good story or characters that you just want to part ways with. Indie movies offer another type of entertainment. Stories that are real, full of emotion and don't rely on eye candy to tell the tale. Comedies are situations that aren't written to be made funny; especially situational comedies. There are a lot of times where stuff in life happens that couldn't have been written better.

Beer and Seed, Bill's award winning film, takes is a dark comedy that takes the all too familiar situation of starting over. Bill Cox, a middle-aged navy veteran who returns to college after the service, finds that the educational system isn't all it's cracked up to be. Years in the military service and being exposed to the world have trained him to withstand almost anything, including the hair-brained antics of some college folk. College life isn't all smiles and sunshine and degrees. There's politics, temptations, and things that tempt you. And if you haven't experienced life away from home, you get torn to shreds; but not for this old bastard! Looking at Bill's point of view of college life addresses a ton of different themes: old vs new, the determination story, necessity is the mother of invention. All these things are addressed with some great writing from Bill and the matching cinematography from the director! They even include the widely viewed animated short video I Love the Fat Chick. This look at the college years is a fresh look and in the comedic genre despite the low budget feel.

The movie moves at a brisk pace with great comedic timing. The acting choice makes you feel you're back in your college days! It definitely is a film that should not be missed and can be downloaded on Amazon! Support independent film. There's a lot of great stuff out there including Beer and Seed!
