Storyline

As teenagers, skateboarding legends Brian Sumner and Christian Hosoi helped shape a culture. They reached amazing heights and broke countless records in pursuit of innovation and greatness. They were stars. They were heroes. As they will tell you themselves, they were fools - until they decided to lay their sins at the foot of the cross and never look back. They traded in the destructive habits of boys to serve Christ as men, using their God-given talents to minister to America's youth in a way very few can. Armed with hardcore biblical teachings, stirring testimony, and authentic, street-level insight, Brian Sumner and Christian Hosoi speak in a language that can't be faked - and work tirelessly to share a message that can't be ignored. Foolishness, from SkateBible, is a daily devotional. It's a witness tool. It's an exciting, artfully made skate video featuring some of the biggest names in professional skateboarding - men now living as dedicated servants of the Lord. Empower your ... My Recommendation: Buy It

First off, let me say that I'm a 25-year-old dude writing this review. Now, I was asked to watch the Foolishness DVD to see if it would be a good addition to our church's library and I have to admit I was crossing my fingers hoping that it wouldn't be too cheesy. However, after watching the film I have to say I am more than impressed and overjoyed that this DVD exists and that our church now has a copy of it. I love skateboarding and watching skateboarding videos and I really enjoyed watching the skating in this film.

As a skating video, Foolishness stands on its own but this film is so much more. The presentation of the Gospel is excellent and concise while also managing to cover and explain nearly all the many initial questions people have about the Bible, God and Christ. I want to memorize every line in this film because it's perfect for evangelizing one to one with people on a personal conversational level. There isn't a bunch of confusing biblical terminology or theology that would make a first time hearer of the Gospel become confused or turned off to the message. And the personal testimonies of the professional skateboarders and skateboard legends brings the Gospel to a very real and human level that shows the power of God and how He's still changing people's lives even in the 21st century.

Foolishness is a simple and complete presentation of the Gospel. It is obviously a product of the Holy Spirit working through living and growing Christians. The film is short yet complete which makes it perfect for teens but really it's perfect for any age because while it has skating in it, the viewer doesn't have to know anything about skating in order to understand the message being conveyed.

I strongly encourage all Christians to not only watch this film but buy 2 copies: one copy so you can show it to friends and family and another copy to give away to people you don't know because trust me you will want to show this film to everyone you meet. I'm already planning to give copies of this film to the Jr. High kids I work with and I'm going to encourage them to watch it with their friends who don't know Christ. This film is incredibly powerful and it will change lives but only if people have the opportunity to watch it.
