Nonpareil Acting
11 December 2015 | by HitchcocSee all my reviews

There are two stories here. The first concerns a young man who was convicted of arson and whose actions have done terrible damage and personal suffering. He returns to the town to live with his sister. Unfortunately, people have a long memory and some of his victims are still there. Soon the locals are on his case, trying to drive him out of town. He tries to fit in, but he is still volatile and doesn't do much to ease his way back. A man is burned to death in a kiosk and he is blamed. The second story is about Wallander and his bout with Alzheimer's. He continues to act erratically, having to look at post-it notes to even remember his daughter Linda's name. He also comes to realize that there is little chance that he will be together with the love of his life, let alone even remember her. He withholds his condition from his daughter and drives his way to try to conclude this case. A masterful job of acting.
