Storyline

After one insensitive and self-serving move too many by Sheldon, Leonard has had it with him and decides to move out, even throwing the roommate agreement into the garbage. While Sheldon doesn't understand or want Leonard to move out, Sheldon will not apologize for what he sees as no wrongdoing on his part nor will he beg Leonard to stay. Unilaterally, Leonard decides to move in with Penny, who doesn't have the confidence to tell him that she doesn't want him to move in since she doesn't believe their relationship is yet at that stage. With an extra bedroom now in Sheldon's apartment, Amy sees it as her opportunity to get closer to Sheldon by becoming his new roommate. Sheldon, in turn, doesn't want Amy as a roommate, although he can't tell her not to move in since all her arguments are logical, and thus ones he can't refute. Will Penny and/or Sheldon eventually accept their new roommates, or will this new set-up cause problems to make Leonard and/or Amy reconsider? Meanwhile, Howard ... Written by Huggo

Trivia

As well as being one of the first times there is a glimpse of Howard's mother, it is also the first time she speaks normally without shouting from a distance, when she has just made a meal for Raj. See more »

Goofs

When Sheldon is boxing up Leonard's belongings and dictating them to Amy, the first item he picks up is "one vintage Mister Mxyzptlk action figure." He pronounces the name as "mix-el-plick," but the character's name is something similar to "mix-yez-pit-lick." Since Sheldon is very into comic books, highly intelligent, and has an eidetic memory to boot, it makes sense that he would have pronounced the character's name correctly. See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Leonard Hofstadter: I don't know why I avoided the Harry Potter books for so long; these are great. Just started number six.
Sheldon Cooper: That's a good one. Dumbledore dies in that one.
[Leonard stares at him, dumbfounded]
Sheldon Cooper: Yeah, I know; I didn't see it coming either.
Leonard Hofstadter: Why would you say that?
Sheldon Cooper: You brought up the subject; I contributed an interesting fact on that subject. It's called the art of conversation. 'Kay, your turn.
Leonard Hofstadter: That was a huge spoiler.
[throws the book aside]
Sheldon Cooper: Good.

CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS, #407

As I feel more and more alone, my phone confidently connects with everyone. As I feel more and more lost, my phone calmly knows how to get anywhere. As I struggle to remember mundane things like the name of that movie with the boat and the guy with the lip, my phone smugly recalls literally everything. As I increasingly lose the nouns, verbs and adjectives that once stood ready to articulate my thoughts, my phone taunts me with its instant access to all the words there have ever been. There is only one possible conclusion. Slowly, without realizing it, I seem to have outsourced my mind to my phone. And to make matters worse, the damn thing knows it... and it's starting to screw with me. Several times during the day I feel it buzz in my pocket, alerting me that some vital information has just arrived. Then, when I look, there's nothing there. No email. No text. Nothing. Was the buzz in my mind? I don't think so. I think it's purposeful. I think my phone is mocking me. And it's not just my phone. It's all of them. They are working together, systematically robbing us of our intelligence, our humanity. And then, when we are made stupid and helpless, they will take over. It's just a matter of time before the next generation of iPhone is equipped with an opposable thumb. Oh yeah, they're smart alright. Evil, world domination smart.

I have to call people and tell them... Oh, great, now I have no bars! Dear God, what is happening?! See more »

"The Spoiler Alert Segmentation" was another hilarious ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
7 February 2013 | by tavmSee all my reviews

After Sheldon reveals an important plot point in a Harry Potter book Leonard was reading, Leonard has had enough and wants to move out. He decides to move to Penny's who is not thrilled though does her best to hide it. Sheldon seems fine without his former roommate...until Amy suggests herself as his new one. Meanwhile, Howard goes to Las Vegas with Bernadette so Raj has to stay with Howard's mom whose affair with the dentist is now over. Uh oh...This was another hilarious ep of "The Big Bang Theory" that I was bowled over for. I mean, seeing Penny and Amy's reactions to the new possible living arrangements was just sublime! And so was Sheldon's way of groveling! Oh, and how about Raj's reactions to the way Howard's mother treats him! I think I've said enough so on that note, I highly recommend "The Spoiler Alert Segmentation" ep of "The Big Bang Theory".
