Storyline

In the UK today, being older, non-partnered and female can often mean isolation, loneliness and a lack of control of your own life. It doesn't have to be this way, and the Older Women's Co-housing Project is a pioneering group of women over 60 working to radically re-write the narrative of what it means to be older, single and female. Together, they are planning to build and then run together a different sort of retirement home, one based on communal living and shared support, similar to existing scheme in Scandinavia and the United States. This short film explores aging and community through a profile of seven of the women working to bring their co-housing dream to reality. Written by Anonymous
