Sex & Nudity

  • A girl is complimented as having a nice butt
  • There's no actual sex in this movie but there is some crude humor and kissing.
  • A man is on stage with only underwear on
  • A woman asks a man if he wants to "fool around with her". He properly declines
  • A man and a woman kiss backstage, the scene then cuts off implying that they are about to have sex.
  • A man is shown walking through Times Square in his underwear
  • A man and a woman are shown in a bed onstage (the man is wearing long johns and a tank top while the woman wears a low-cut nightgown that reveals cleavage); the man tells the woman that he has an erection and wants to have sex with her onstage and in front of an audience but she refuses and struggles to get him off her; he eventually gets out of the bed and we see a pronounced erection through his long underwear.
  • Two woman kiss. Not very sensual and some what brief.
  • A male actor strips naked (buttocks only shown) for a costume fitting, while a young woman, implied to be a minor, is watching from a frontal view. He continues to stand there some time while an adult criticized the young woman for staring.
  • A man and woman express the press's admiration for an actor as desiring to ejaculate on the actor's face.
  • A woman kisses another woman backstage, just for 3-4 seconds
  • A woman is briefly seen in a bra while she changes.
  • Mild to moderate: only very brief male buttocks nudity, implied sex, crude jokes, and minor kissing; other than that very clean on sexual content

Violence & Gore

  • A man's head is hit by a large object. He falls unconscious and a little blood is seen. Later in the film, he is briefly seen wearing a neckbrace.
  • A character imagines he is a superhero. In the background there's a S.W.A.T. team being shot with blood splashes, explosions, people running and a huge metal bird.

Profanity

  • 141 uses of "fuck". Many other obscenities throughout including: "shit", "dick", "prick", "bitch", "cocksucker", "cock", "douchebag", "tits", "ass", "asshole".
  • (Deleted. Personal opinions about ratings are not appropriate for the Parents Guide.)

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A character is shown drunk.
  • A character is a recovering drug addict.
  • The main character smokes marijuana in one scene.
  • A few characters drink and smoke cigarettes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The main character often has a mental voice in his head speaking too him, and he sometimes hallucinates weird visions. There's a scene where he goes absolutely crazy and starts throwing objects viciously.
  • Suicide is a topic.
  • The film as as whole mixes surreality with reality and the ending has different interpretations, making it all a bit derealizing
  • Overall, some very brief sexual content and language is the reason the film is R.
