Fun until the stupid ending
19 October 2014 | by chrismackey1972See all my reviews

Jami is out with Cory - her boyfriend - watching the annual showing in Texarkana of The Town That Dreaded Sundown. She tells him she doesn't like those sort of movies, and so they leave. Cory parks the car and the two start kissing when Jami sees some hooded person in the forest watching. They stop and are about to leave when they get attacked. Over the course of the next few days, quite a few people are butchered, and the religious town's folk think it's the killer from the actual 1946 murders, while others think it's a copycat killer.

Even though the 1946 murders are brought up quite a lot, this movie is not based on that, nor is it a remake of the movie from the 1970s or early 1980s. There is nudity in this. Some blond girl shows her butt and breasts while having sex. There is a lot of blood, and there are two scenes of bodies chopped up by railroad tracks. It's a very formulaic slasher, but I thought it was certainly better than a lot of the indie horror movies out there, which are generally crap. As I said in my thread starter, this was pretty fun until the ending, which was stupid; it kind of reminded me of Scream, so take that for what it's worth.

The lead actress was pretty good, as was the rest of the supporting cast. I gave this a 5-star rating. That ending prevented me from giving it more stars, because...the ending really was stupid, along with the reason this all took place.
