Yosemite Sam claims he wants to be in Lola's play because he heard it is an "equity production", which he claims means "guaranteed money". "Equity" is the Actors' Equity Association, the primary labor union representing actors in live stage productions. If Lola's play was actually an Equity production, none of the cast would be allowed to perform, as only actors with an extremely-difficult-to-obtain union card are permitted to audition, let alone be cast.
