In keeping with a long-time series tradition, the opening shot after the text crawl shows a space vehicle flying either away from or toward the screen (in this case, several Resistance transport ships fly towards the screen). Originally, the opening shot was a transition from the stars to a circular shape resembling a planet, which would fade into the tubular bed Finn was comatose inside of from the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), where he would suddenly wake up like he does around 15 minutes into the final film. When Luke boards the Millenium Falcon he looks like he visited an old haunt, as he grabs Han's lucky Sabacc Dice the metal loop they were hanging on moves. Not sure that piece was meant to move but it does. See more »
It was boring, it was contrived, it was cheaply done and the characters made zero sense. All the coincidences and stupid behavior almost put me to sleep.
If there is any learning that can happen in this world it will be the end of sequels forever and ever.
