Did You Know?

Trivia Phil mentions that he at 17 was really close with his friend Stacy's mom, Mrs. Robinson. This references two fictional characters, both of whom are the objects of affection of their daughters boyfriends. 1. "Stacy's Mom" is song by the band Fountains of Wayne. 2. Mrs. Robinson is a character in the movie The Graduate (1967), and the song "Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel. This relates directly to the episode, where Haley is dating an older guy to spite her parents. See more »
Goofs During the outdoor scene from Manny's surprise party, you see Phil chomping away on corn on the cob like a madman while watching his daughter's "boyfriend" making obvious sexual moves. When Phil gets up, you see him wiping his mouth with his napkin while leaving some corn on his face. As Phil takes a pair of hedge clippers toward the "boyfriend", Claire jumps up and tells Phil that "they have a gardener", you still some corn on Phil's face. However, as he turns around with Claire by his side, the corn disappears. See more »

Quotes Haley Dunphy: I see the look on his face every day. He acts as if he doesn't want me around!
Phil Dunphy: [returning in the other elevator and not seeing Haley] Give me the ticket. I'm going after her. This little 'chicken' game may work for your dad but it doesn't work for me! That's my little girl! I need her to know that no guy on Earth is good enough for her, much less a slimy middle-aged jeans salesman!
