Succinylcholine is a paralytic agent used primarily to stop muscle contractions during emergency medical treatment or at the beginning of surgery in order to pass an endotracheal breathing tube through the esophagus and into the lungs. After the doctor injected Hank with it prior to slitting his throat he would have been unable to speak to her and likely unable to sit in a chair during that time.
