There's a scene in the movie where two strangers meet & choose to sleep rather do what they met for. I twice deviated my mind from choosing the same option during the 100 minutes of running time.
Fahadh Faasil is fine and apt for the role, while the women in here do a very good job. But that doesn't help when the cinematography is focusing on your lips, neck & shadows. Direction is gullible with less to no background music. The pace of the movie lost in a race with that 100- year old tortoise. Sequences are edited properly, but long time lapses & transient-time screenplay works against the tone of the movie, which I only found out from Wikipedia. The tone is horror.
I haven't read the novel YAKSHI, so I cannot comment on the story. But one thing I can tell is, that the plot here takes you for a ride without revealing what it desired to convey. I COULD figure something out, but that was different from what my partner did. And way too different from what my mother did. And not to mention, my uncle chose THAT option.
BOTTOM LINE: A parade of confusions driven by implications. Typical thriller Malayalam story with no defining nodes; reminded me of Mohanlal starrer FLASH. 2.9 out of 10 i.e. not recommended!
