A seemingly small moral indiscretion sets an elderly barber on a slippery slope to becoming a serial killer. Joe the barber is a pillar of the community. He helps a wealthy customer by buying a fur coat for the customer's "confidential" secretary. Joe's silence is bought when the customer throws in a fur coat for Joe's wife. But such skullduggery's - innocent as it may seem - comes with a price. Soon, Joe finds himself covering up when the customer accidentally kills a man. Others are enlisted to conceal the deceit. Joe finds himself tangled in an increasingly large web of lies with only one-way out: murder. Deciding he's taken enough from the town's upper crust, Joe starts killing his way through them.
