Luke Hemsworth in 'The Reckoning': Chris and Liam's Brother Signs on to First Feature Film

Say g'day to yet another hot Aussie actor: Luke Hemsworth, older brother of Chris and Liam, has just signed on for his first feature film role. Luke will play a detective in “The Reckoning,” about the search for missing teenagers who shot video footage of a murder, set to begin filming in Australia next month. He moved to Los Angeles in 2011, and is also due to shoot the World War I ensemble film “The 34th Battalion” later this year. Based on those roles, it seems Luke is taking a bit of a different track than his brothers, leaning toward intense dramas rather than the action- and superhero-heavy repertoire of “Hunger Games” star Liam and “Thor” and “The Avengers” lead Chris. All of the Hemsworths are easy on the eyes, so it would make sense for Luke to also gravitate toward romantic leading man roles. After all, Liam got his start

Luke Hemsworth Set For The Reckoning

Luke Hemsworth Set For The Reckoning
To paraphrase Yoda, “There is... another... Hemsworth.” It’s not as if Luke Hemsworth has exactly been hiding – we’ve known there’s a third, older brother in the family besides Chris and Liam for years now. But he’s limited his acting work to TV until the announcement in January that he’s joined World War I drama The 34th Battalion. But since that’s still waiting to kick off shooting, it appears his actual film debut will be crime thriller The Reckoning. In keeping with the sibling theme, Hemsworth’s co-star in the film will be Jonathan Lapaglia, younger brother to Anthony. The pair is set to play detectives searching for two teenagers who unwittingly shoot footage of a murder and are hunted by the criminals involved.John V. Soto has written the script and aims to start filming at the end of April in Perth. Hemsworth has

Take Two: Ian and Luke Sparke

Ian and Luke Sparke (photo by Focus Magazine).

This article first appeared in If Magazine Issue #150

Ian Sparke Since very young, I have been interested in military history, Australian history and uniforms. This may sound strange, but the whole militaria collection started when I was about six years-old. My first item can be traced back till then. Now we have around 80,000 items. Our production becomes more sophisticated and we continuously research and collect more. The first professional job we got was in the 1993 ceremony for the coming back of the unknown soldier of the Australian Army. They brought one of our soldiers back from France and reburied him here after a memorial. It was my task to ensure all the war uniforms were correctly worn. I designed, manufactured and made them. After that, we started to get more and more professional jobs. At the same time I kept researching and working on history,

Casting Couch: New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Rumors Regarding Drax the Destroyer, Tom Selleck Wants to Get the Band Back Together, and More

The deluge of rumors concerning James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy continues unabated. This time around the source is Comic Book Movie, who says they have a shadowy operative close to the production and his or her latest round of snooping has led them to believe that not only is The Office’s John Krasinski the latest in a parade of actors to read for the role of Peter Quell, but that there’s also a shortlist of actors being considered for the role of the Guardians’ resident green guy, Drax the Destroyer. Rumor has it that Generation Kill actor Brian Patrick Wade; that guy from the Old Spice commercials, Isaiah Mustafa; and former professional wrestler Dave Bautista are all being looked at. Presumably they’re in some Hollywood back lot right now, letting Gunn take test footage of them destroying things. An epic in scope war movie called The 34th Battalion just added a couple
