The married couple Emilia and Bernhard Janes are over the moon when they learn that Emilia is pregnant. During a routine check anomalies in Emilia's blood are discovered which turn out to be a symptom of cancer. While Bernhard tries to persuade his wife to choose her own life, Emilia has already grown a bond to her baby. Her inner conflict also puts enormous strain on her relationship with Bernhard. She has to make a decision over life or death. But of whom?
