Universal’s International Chief Duncan Clark on Bond, Grinch, Dolittle, Pokemon

Universal’s International Chief Duncan Clark on Bond, Grinch, Dolittle, Pokemon
Following the stellar overseas opening for “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” Universal’s international chief Duncan Clark is confident about an upcoming release slate that includes Bond 25, “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch,” “The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle,” Pokemon movie “Detective Pikachu,” and potential awards contenders like “First Man.”

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” opened recently in international markets with a monster opening weekend of $150 million. Its release shortly before the start of the FIFA World Cup could have raised eyebrows, but Clark, president of distribution at Universal Pictures Intl., is confident that the movie will continue to thrive, despite the competition from soccer.

“In many parts of the world the timeline of the World Cup will not really interfere with [the film’s performance, such as] in Asia and Latin America,” he says. “In the first two weeks of the World Cup, there is less drama and less potent matches because they are in group matches. On days when the countries play,

James Bond 25 Wants Helena Bonham Carter as the Main Villain

James Bond 25 Wants Helena Bonham Carter as the Main Villain
After months and years of speculation and rumors, James Bond 25 is finally happening with Daniel Craig returning as 007, and now a new report claims who MGM is eyeing to play the villain. While nothing has been confirmed yet, Helena Bonham Carter is said to be the front runner for the villain role, although many others think that Angelina Jolie is the top choice. Here's what an unidentified insider had to say about the potential casting.

"Everyone thinks Angelina Jolie is going to get the part but bosses want Helena more. At the moment they are just finalising the cast."

It was confirmed just a few weeks ago that Daniel Craig will in fact be back as James Bond, with Danny Boyle taking over the directorial duties for Sam Mendes, who directed the last two 007 movies, the global blockbuster Skyfall and the divisive Spectre. There was also a report from earlier

Rumour: Helena Bonham Carter and Angelina Jolie wanted for the villain in Bond 25

Now that Danny Boyle is officially on board for Bond 25, the British tabloid rumour mill is churning once again, with The Daily Mirror reporting that Boyle and the film’s producers are eyeing Helena Bonham Carter for the villain of the new 007 adventure.

You may want to have a pinch of salt handy here, but according to the paper, Bonham Carter tops the wish-list for the next Bond villain, while Angelina Jolie – who starred alongside Daniel Craig in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – is also said to be in contention.

Bond 25 will mark Craig’s fifth and final outing as Ian Fleming’s super spy, and has been scripted by Danny Boyle’s frequent collaborator John Hodge.

Filming on Bond 25 is set to get underway in December at Pinewood Studios. So far, only Daniel Craig is confirmed to star, but Ben Whishaw has recently stated that he expects to return as Q,

Helena Bonham Carter and Angelina Jolie Rumored to Be Up For The Next James Bond Villain Role

It looks like Danny Boyle is looking to do something a little different for the James Bond franchise with Bond 25. According to Mirror, the next big bad Bond film villain will be a woman, and Helena Bonham Carter is rumored to be the actress they want in the role.

If this is true, it wouldn't be the first time that Bonham Carter has played a villain. She was great as the sadistic witch Bellatrix Lestrange in the final four Harry Potter films. She's also taken on sinister roles in Dark Shadows and Alice in Wonderland

She would certainly make for an interesting Bond villain! She's played a lot of interesting and unique characters in her career. There are no details on who the villain could be, but I'm curious to see what exactly she would bring to a Bond villain!

The report also says that Angelina Jolie is up for the role.

After all, the actress has shown her evil side in the past, playing Bellatrix Lestrange in four of the Harry Potter movies.

We’re also hearing that Angelina Jolie’s name is being tossed around,

Why Universal was the clear choice as international partner on 'Bond 25'

Studio’s track record with franchises, plus key relationships, won the contract.

News last week that Universal had won the contract to handle international distribution on Bond 25 will not have come as a surprise to many in Hollywood.

For the past 18 months or so, every studio except Disney competed for the right to release the upcoming spy saga outside North America. In the end it was Universal’s track record in managing successful global franchises like Fast And The Furious, Jurassic and the Illumination Entertainment tentpoles that won the day, as well as a handful of key relationships.

The Good and Bad of Danny Boyle’s Bond

Neil Calloway looks at the pitfalls and pluses of Danny Boyle directing the new Bond…

After months of speculation, it’s finally been confirmed that Danny Boyle is to direct the next Bond film. First he has to get through the ordeal of making a Richard Curtis script into a film starring Ed Sheeran (just typing that makes me angry), but all being well, he’ll be at the helm for Bond 25.

He wouldn’t be my first choice, but that’s not because he isn’t a decent director; it’s because he doesn’t strike me as the kind of director who would take on a project like that.

In among the gems, there’s a big cloud hanging over Boyle’s filmography, and it’s the cloud of the big movie. Specifically, The Beach. The film of Alex Garland’s debut novel was much anticipated, and Boyle,

James Bond 25 Officially Announced, Release Date Confirmed

With the picture’s star and director both firmly in place, temporarily calming years of will-they-won’t-they speculation and dream-team fantasizing, we now also have some official release dates for the next James Bond movie. The world famous spy’s 25th film will first be hitting UK cinemas on October 25th, 2019, followed two weeks later by a Us release on November 8th.

The first 007 flick since 2015’s Spectre, Bond 25 will see the return of Daniel Craig for his fifth outing in the role, though there was certainly a time when we didn’t think we’d see the day. Back in 2015, the actor infamously joked that he’d rather “slash [his] wrists” than play the character again. Craig changed his tune the following year, however, taking back his previous statements and saying at the The New Yorker Festival that he’s “got the best job in the world” and that
