- "The Voice" - Blind Auditions #3 - Sept. 12, 2012
First up on night three is Samuel Mouton a 19-year-old from Colorado who works as a pizza cook and dishwasher in his family restaurant. He wants to be a reggae singer a la Bob Marley. He sings "Redemption Song." Adam turns immediately. Cee Lo follows in short order. Christina is next. He picks Adam.
Next up is Chris Trousdale who is from Michigan and used to be in a boy band called Dream Street with Jesse McCartney. He works in a sushi restaurant and feels the struggle of once being famous and ...now working in a sushi restaurant. He sings "Glad You Came." He's still got moves but he's not much of a singer with breath, pitch, and strength issues. No one turns for him. He shows off a few of his moves and goads Blake into trying a moonwalk. They tell him he seems like a dancer who sings and he has to work on the notes.
We now get the montage of folks that were not chosen by anyone.
Next up is Nelly's Echo who is a 32-year-old Nigerian political refugee who now lives in Baltimore. They had to leave their father behind who was wrongly incarcerated when Nelly's Echo was 16. His stage name is supposed to represent himself -- Nelly-- and the audience--Echo.The family has since been reunited. He wants to inspire people. He sings "Ain't No Sunshine," by Bill Withers accompanying himself on guitar. He does it delicately with a sweet huskiness to his voice. Christina turns first. Adam follows. He chooses Christina since she turned first.
Next up are Allison and Crystal Steel who go by 2SteelGirls a mother-daughter duo, 44 and 23, from Nashville who also play in a larger family band. Allison, the mom, quit her job to come to this audition. They sing "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood. They both have smoky altos. They harmonize nicely. They both also push a little too hard but overall sound fine. Cee Lo turns first and Blake follows quickly. They choose Blake.
After this we get a montage of people that Cee Lo wanted but didn't get including pop singer Lisa Scinta who chooses Christina, Marissann who also chooses Christina and Loren Allred who chooses Adam.
Next up is Domo a hip-hop dancer who says she's like Gaga in China and apparently she's been in a lot of commericals as well. She says she can dance like Michael and Janet Jackson but also sing like Mariah/Whitney/Celine. She sings "Don'cha" by the Pussycat Dolls-- which Cee Lo wrote-- and he turns around immediately. She goes up to him and flirts with him. She really can move but she's an average singer. Cee Lo was the only one who turned so...she chooses Cee Lo. He calls her her own little industry.
The final contestant is Nicole Nelson a soul singer from Burlington, VT. She calls herself something of a hippie. She lives in an old shoe factory. She sings "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen. She is strong and smooth if clearly nervous. Adam turns first. Blake, Cee Lo, and Christina follow almost simultaneously. She picks Adam.
