Can't believe all the negative reviews
23 January 2015 | by barnettles1See all my reviews

I have just watched the Falcon series and found it to be simply one of the very best detective series I have seen in years. Rather than the formulaic series so popular and yet so shallow (a la CSI: just add US place name), this was superb characterisation, suspenseful, dark, brooding and edge of the seat stuff. As someone who has worked in Spain, I loved the accessibility of the English cast and dialogue, combined with the on-location shoot - this really works for me a la Wallander - unless everyone is fluent in Spanish, Swedish and other languages it captures the original mood of the books whilst allowing ease of enjoyment as a native English speaker. The lead actor was simply excellent at portraying a man uncovering dark secrets, Hayley Atwell was as gorgeous as ever, and it was great to see Santiago Cabrero in another role, albeit one set in a Spanish-speaking setting. I won't add spoilers, but this series for me was a "must see" as I just watched it back-to-back here in Australia after screening on BBC First. I sincerely hope they make more of these, and more of the English dialogue, local setting dramas the Brits do so very, very well
