As councilman Richard Burgi gets involved with two members of the Reagan family. Tom Selleck is need of his vote and the votes he can deliver for the police budget the coming fiscal year. But this former detective turned politician is also one of the principals in an ongoing domestic dispute involving girlfriend Lili Mirojnick. She 'fell' down a flight of stairs and it is established Burgi was on the premises. That case of course is being investigated by Detective Donnie Wahlberg.

Things really come to a head when Burgi is shot and wounded and it becomes a he said she said situation. When the 'he' is a decorated cop and elected official the natural tendency is to believe the former cop.

It isn't always the case. For one term in the NYS Assembly I was represented by David P. Greenberg, the 'Batman' in the famous real life Batman and Robin duo who went into politics. Being a hero cop didn't save him from a stretch in the joint for kickbacks.

But it ain't easy to put one away.
