Houtarou is usually quite apathetic, however his sister forced him to join the classic literature club. Once there he discovers some information regarding an incident surrounding one of the members' uncle. Together with an inquisitive girl this unassertive boy delves deeper into this mystery.Written by
"Hyouka," tells about a high school student at Kamiyama High School named Oreki Houtarou (Yuuichi Nakamura), who has a principle of never wasting energy such as using body energy as necessary, doing activities if only really necessary. If he does something, always want to be done as soon as possible. In other words, lazy. The principle of his life that was very rounded was falling apart when he was told to join the Classic Literature Club by his daughter. Chitanda Eru (Satomi Sato), a girl who is one level with Oreki as well as a club chairman who always has a very big curiosity. Finally, Oreki was dragged into some of her problems with Chitanda. Beginning with an incident involving his own Chitanda uncle, who turned out to be part of the Classic Literature Club at the same school 45 years ago.
"Watashi, ki ni narimasu!" (Meaning "I am curious")
The catchphrase is likely to be seen in almost every episode and is always saying by Chitanda with sparkling eyes and a deliberate face to Houtarou. Maybe some of you will be annoyed, but if I honestly really like it. If you see a glimpse of the genre, maybe some people think "Slice of Life again, romance again". But you're wrong. The element of romance and slice of life it is practically very little and maybe 75% just focus on a mystery. In this anime, there also some reference novels such as Agatha Christie (Murder On The Orient Express) and Conan Arthur Doyle (Sherlock Holmes).
The artwork is very deserved thumbs up even two thumbs up because the studio that makes this anime Kyoto Animation. The frame rate is very smooth and the frame takes second by second. The coloring and quality may be practically equivalent to an anime movie. An abstract animation is in use when Oreki thinks it's great.
Oreki Houtarou can change from a lazy person to a lot better, because often under the same problem with Chitanda. I have to admit Chitanda is so great in terms of "mocking" Oreki. The "I don't do it quickly. if I have to, I'll do it quickly" principle that Houtarou holds can crumble instantly if you've been dealing with "I'm curious". In addition, Chitanda is able to change Houtarou in an instant without having to bother arguments. For example in the arc "Why didn't she ask EBA?" (Episode 8-11), Chitanda can change Houtarou's way of thinking until the incarnate detective produces a different deduction, just because he feels in his heart that "there is still something strange". Simple thing? But creatively processed the same story maker. As these things continue, it can be seen that there is a sense of love between the two (who knows who likes first, but I think Houtarou used to be), and the more the shame looks as he goes to the last episode.
For most people, the story may be very slow and boring. I must admit, it is quite slow. But I don't have a problem with it because the plot should also consider it matches with its genre. For the Slice of Lifelike Hyouka, slow-paced is perfect. Coupled with a good development, then be a very good storyline.
Do you guys always see a detective anime with extraordinary analyzes accompanied by a very fascinating and realistic musical background almost impossible in the real world? Not for Hyouka. As a central figure and a fake detective, Houtarou's analysis capabilities are truly reality-based analysis. Realistic data that is perfectly processed by himself then disclosed in a language that makes sense and not complicated.
BGM, the placement, and type of music used in a certain scene are quite beautiful and very suitable for the atmosphere because the song is played by Johann Sebastian Bach. Her first opening theme, Yasashisa no Riyuu performed by ChouCho, is perfect and I often hear music like this. Ending theme both, Kimi ni Matsuwanu Mystery.
Satomi Satou, the voice actress who cast Chitanda's voice is worth the thumbs up. Why? Because his voice is very different than when he cast the voice of Tainaka Ritsu in the anime series K-ON!. Although both are very different, I still appreciate this two anime.
Hyouka is a very good anime in my opinion because Chitanda Eru is amazing both her nature and her seiyuu, Oreki Houtarou which make me amazed by its deduction, blend of development and the rate of an excellent story, superb animation, and the music Charming. Highly recommended for those who like anime slice of life that is relaxed, unfamiliar, plus a bit of non-criminal mild mystery spice.
