Hallmark Film for Dudes
nammage11 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Too long for what it was. 30 minutes in, and I looked at the time and couldn't believe it had just been 30 minutes. It's like a Hallmark film, with some crude humor that seems out-of-place, at times. So, the main character brings people together as a wingman-for-hire while his love interest keeps them apart as a way for women to go out and have fun without the annoyance of hookups. Nice idea, just runs too long and some of the jokes fall flat.

I kept watching, though. It held my attention but felt as if it didn't really go anywhere. A film to watch out of complete boredom.

The haters have good reasons to

I watched this movie for only one reason. I love Erin Cahill. I wanted to see her in a rom/com before her Hallmark days and one not limited by Hallmark's regular G ratings. What a mistake.

There is bad acting, although who can tell in a movie this silly and stupid. The dialog was definitely bad, not even counting what was worse about it. The dialogue was crass, crude, obscene. There may not be any sex shown, but the inuendo would make frat guys blush. (OK maybe that's not possible, but you get the idea.) Actually it was probably made by frat guys. The sets are cheap. The background music is often extremely distracting. Sometimes the background sound is chaotic, even beyond what fits that particular scene. And something I have never commented on in over 1500 reviews, the lighting was bad several times. In one close up scene, there were random shadows across both actors' faces. One closeup of Cahill aged her a couple decades. The story is unusual but silly and stupid. There is a lot of drug and alcohol abuse that has a bearing on the story despite the intention to be funny. In short, there isn't just one slight flaw that I overemphasize, every aspect of this movie is bad.

Was it funny? I'm sure the frat guys this movie is aimed at probably found some laughs. I found one snippet funny and I apologize for it because it was as crude as anything in the movie - the elevator scene. The gag that led to that and followed it was way overdone.

As to whether there is any ballot box stuffing - if you look at the rating distribution, it is heavily in the 1 to 5 star range (69% of the votes at this writing). The only indication of ballot box stuffing is all the 10 stars.

Wonderful!

Excellent comedy with real world elements and a nice touch of romance. Been on both sides of the page of this story line.

Can't believe all of the haters out there.

This movie made me laugh out loud and want to fall in love at the same time (and I'm a single male who usually doesn't watch romance or want to fall in love).

This movie made me laugh so hard and relate so strongly I can't understand why anyone wouldn't enjoy it. People these days are so caught up with how the media or so-called "critics" see things they can't even see what is real.

Looks like there's some haters targeting this here movie!

I just watched this earlier and really enjoyed it; sure it's loud, brash, obnoxiously broad and even a tad un-PC in places, but that's the fun of it. It also has a good heart beating under all that somewhere and I like the cast a lot. Stellar performances across the board and has some real genuine laughs including possibly the best (worst) chat up line I have ever heard in my life - HILARIOUS! HINT: It's in the first 10 mins of the movie by the character 'Dutch'

I have a huge soft spot for low budget (and the sets show that) indie comedies and a lot of the ones I've seen have made me laugh and like them. This reminded me a lot of another great (and also very crude) indie comedy, "Screw Cupid" which seems only available to buy on instant video on Amazon in the US. BOO!

Having just been on the official Facebook page for "Wingman Inc", I saw a message from the film makers saying that some people are out to saboteur this movie. That happens a lot unfortunately so I'm here to tell you that this movie for all it's unevenness and flaws, will still provide an entertaining viewing for those who like this sort of thing And the women are GORGEOUS in this!

I swear there must be a casting agency that exists just solely devoted to getting really stunning actresses for all these low budget indie comedies!

Just like prom night

Warning: Spoilers
Dr. Robert Tompkins aka Bobby (Kristopher Turner) is a dog psychologist. His girlfriend recently broke up with him. He has three roommates, a ton of debt, and a business that is not doing that well. What Bobby does have is a way to talk to the ladies which result in gratifications for his friends. His friends decide to turn his talent into a business. Bobby meets Kristy (Erin Cahill) who gets paid to keep predatory males away from women who go out and want to have fun. Neither one knows what the other one does.

The film is predictable and cliche. What it is not, is a teen sex comedy. There are no gratuitous nude scenes. The sex scenes are off camera. I don't recall any F-bombs, although the language was very sexual including C-block and Dirty San... The main problem with the film is not the overly predictability aspect, but the fact the jokes didn't work that well. It is situational comedy that needed a laugh track.
