Ellen Ripley is rescued by a deep salvage team after being in hypersleep for 57 years. The moon that the Nostromo visited has been colonized, but contact is lost. This time, colonial marines have impressive firepower, but will that be enough?
During an archaeological expedition on Bouvetøya Island in Antarctica, a team of archaeologists and other scientists find themselves caught up in a battle between the two legends. Soon, the team realize that only one species can win.
Almost eleven years after the disastrous expedition to the distant moon LV-223, the deep-space colonisation vessel Covenant, with more than 2,000 colonists in cryogenic hibernation, is on course for the remote planet Origae-6 with the intention to build a new world. Instead, a rogue transmission entices the crew to a nearby habitable planet which resembles Earth. The unsuspecting crewmembers of the Covenant will have to cope with biological foes beyond human comprehension. Ultimately, what was intended as a peaceful exploratory mission, will soon turn into a desperate rescue operation in uncharted space.Written by
The Planet 4 variant Xenomorph appears to have an accelerated life cycle similar to those in AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004). It also appears that the face hugger stage is capable of implanting a host within seconds of attachment. Both have caused criticism among fans. See more »
During the opening act, the Covenant is damaged by a shockwave after Mother detects a "neutrino storm". Nutrinos are nearly massless particles which so rarely interact with other material that they commonly pass though the entire Earth without ever causing a reaction. They could not damage the ship as portrayed in the film. However, the ship wasn't damaged by a neutrino storm at all, but by (as the crew puts it) a "highly charged shockwave from a stellar ignition" (e.g. a supernova) and/or a "spontaneous stellar flare". A neutrino burst is merely something that occurs during a stellar ignition event but is not the cause of the event or any resulting shockwaves from it. See more »

First of all, I've loved Ridley Scott's work throughout the years except his few films like Exodus, Robin Hood and The Counsellor. But I'm sure that I didn't hate Prometheus as much as I hated the other films I've mentioned now. Prometheus left everyone with many questions unanswered and I've eagerly waited for the mystery to get unfolded. But Alien Covenant disappointed me very much by just being an ordinary horror film with a little bit of content for the upcoming installments.
Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterson stands out among other poorly developed characters which annoys the audience pretty much. The best thing about the film is that it is visually impeccable because of the wonderful cinematography and the beautiful CGI which tries to leave an impact on us. The music was quite ordinary and mainly was not unnecessary.
I didn't really expect Alien Covenant to have many horror scenes but it is not really annoying as it was made out pretty well (thanks to Dariusz Wolski). John Logan and Dante Harper should have concentrated more on the screenplay of this film as that makes this film too predictable and boring.
For people who haven't watched any film in this franchise, it's just another film like Jaws and Final Destination with an alien background. But for other movie lovers out there who love the Alien franchise, this film is not for you and watch either Alien or Prometheus or any other film you like because I'm sure that they will entertain you more.
