Jenny Bengtsson is a teacher living in Kalmar, Sweden, struggling to stay afloat during her divorce. Every day they're forced to take crap from students, parents, patients and bosses who all expect them to give more than they're able to. The Simple Heist tells the story that leads up to the crazy decision to rob a bank, the preparations, the heist itself and the aftermath: does the money solve all their problems or do they just get new ones? How are they supposed to drive a getaway car with a drunk teenager in the backseat? What's the best way to commit breaking-and-entering when ...Written by
Not the usual formula stereotyped crime caper, in this case an artwork that looks like a stuffed rabbit (not clear; a cat somewhere too). Usual twists to keep one's attention. Above average intelligent dialogue for the genre. For me the best part was the shout out to, fellow Swede, Greta Thunberg in this statement by Jenny, "I've decided to skip flying because of my climate anxiety, we could take a train trip." (Side Note: Did you see the look Greta gave Trump when he walked by at the climate summit?)
