Stumbling upon this 2022 horror movie from writer and director Ricardo Islas by random chance in 2023, of course I opted to give the movie a chance, as it was a horror movie that I had never seen or heard about. However, I have to say that I wasn't harboring much of any high hopes for the movie, given the movie's rather dubious cover.
Turns out that the cover was a clear indicator of what was in store ahead, because "Night Hunt" was by no means a good movie. The storyline and script, as written by Ricardo Islas, was mundane and generic. And while I am sure that the movie was made with the best of intentions and love for the craft, then there just wasn't any wow effect to the movie. And that made for a very mundane and boring viewing experience.
Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in "Night Hunt". And as the movie unfolded on the screen, I wasn't really bedazzled or impressed by what I saw. Now, I am not saying that the acting performances were bad as such, but I just wasn't blown away by the performances.
Visually then "Night Hunt" was a simplistic movie. Sure, it wasn't a movie that needed a whole lot of over-the-top special effects, and whatever effects were in the movie actually worked out well enough.
For a vampire movie then "Night Hunt" was a rather forgettable entry into the vampire genre. This movie came and went without leaving as much as a single memorable expression. It will slowly fade into oblivion for me, never to be brought back out in the daylight (pardon the pun) and be seen a second time.
I am sure that there is an audience out there for a low budget movie project such as "Night Hunt". Just turned out that I wasn't part of that selected audience.
My rating of "Night Hunt" lands on a three out of ten stars.
