On a seemingly normal date with his girlfriend Karen, James gets smacked with a break-up. What's the reason? Because he's 'too nice'. Devastated and not wanting to be alone, he quickly jumps back into the world of dating, much to the annoyance of Sarah, the hostess of the restaurant he brings all his dates to. With help from his best friends and father, James must navigate through his insecurities to find a woman he can have an honest relationship with and trust not to break his heart again. Confused over what to do with his situation, James meets his father, Saul, in an empty church. It is never revealed how he knows Saul is at the church. Previously, Saul has fished an unread letter to James from James' mother out of a storage box. Somehow, Saul has this letter with him. He presents it to James, telling him he has never read it. James opens it and reads it aloud. As he reads, Saul opens a Bible and searches for a passage that is identical to the story that James' mother writes him in the letter.
