Introduction to a bizarre sub-genre of filmmaking
14 February 2017 | by Leofwine_dracaSee all my reviews

WHAT IS PINK EIGA? is a straightforward video short introduction to the Japanese series of pinku films. These are quite hard to describe by definition, because they range from absurdist comedies to horror films to social dramas. All of the films are linked by their strong sexual content and their generally short running times.

Clocking in at just 12 minutes, WHAT IS PINK EIGA? serves as a brief introduction to the genre. It's a lively little thing, well edited and mixing in various interview clips with many actresses involved in the productions as well as some of the directors and producers. Inevitably there's also a variety of clips from the films themselves, so you can see the kind of material featured.
