Storyline

Flush with their revival's success, Kermit the Frog and his friends are approached by Dominic Badguy (Ricky Gervais) to go on a world tour. Unbeknownst to them, this is all part of the sinister plan of Constantine, the world's most evil frog, to become the greatest thief of all time. After making sure that Kermit is jailed as him, Constantine impersonates him to use the Muppets' tour as cover for his scheme. While Sam the Eagle and Inspector Jean Pierre Napoleon (Ty Burrell) investigate, the Muppets find their boss seems strangely changed even as Kermit desperately attempts to escape to stop the impostor. Only when Walter, Fozzie, and Animal realize the truth is there a chance to prevent Constantine from pulling off the crime of the century. Written by Kenneth Chisholm (kchishol@rogers.com)

Trivia

One of the last Muppets projects Steve Whitmire worked on before being fired by Disney in October 2016. Ironically, the role of Kermit was then given to Matt Vogel, who played Kermit's impostor Constantine in this movie. Due to an overwhelming amount of feedback from the public, disapproving of Steve's unfair dismissal, Disney was said to be reconsidering its decision, as of 2020. See more »

Goofs

The CIA is not a law enforcement agency, so Sam the Eagle has no claim to jurisdiction at the gallery in Berlin; the CIA's mandate is solely the gathering and analysis of intelligence. And as an operative of a clandestine organization, Sam would not carry anything that identified him as CIA; he would have a cover identity, which, as America's primary diplomatic arm, would most likely be as some sort of representative from the Department of State. The Muppet sequel
28 March 2015 | by Prismark10See all my reviews

After being successfully rebooted in 2011 in The Muppets they return in Muppets Most Wanted and end up in London (their spiritual home) as well as other European cities.

The famous again Muppets have a new manager Dominic Badguy (Ricky Gervais) and they embark on a world tour but the tour is a front as Badguy and his cohort Constantine (A Kermit lookalike who has replaced Kermit) rob historical venues across Europe. Tina Fey is fun as the prison guard in a Russian gulag where the real Kermit has been sent to.

Ty Burrell is Interpol Inspector Napoleon, co investigating with CIA agent Sam the Eagle while at the same time poking fun at French stereotypes.

There are many cameos some are blink and you miss them ranging from James McAvoy, Lady Gaga, Christoph Waltz, Frank Langella, Ray Liotta, Danny Trejo, Salma Hayek and Tom Hiddleston.

The film is fun enough, a solid and enjoyable film with a good musical number (The Gulag Song) near the end of the film. Its not as good as The Muppets and borrows from earlier films such as The Great Muppet Caper. Then again the film acknowledges that sequels are not as good as the original film in its opening number. Jason Segel's absence is felt in this film and it also does feel a little bit flabby here and there.
