A very in-depth review show
28 April 2016 | by WakenPayneSee all my reviews

Okay, if anyone wants me to reference in this review that since JesuOtaku has come out as transgender then be prepared to be sorely mistaken. I'm not trans-phobic and while he was a woman at the time this show was going on and came out after the show discontinued in this review I'll keep referring to JesuOtaku as him, he is very brave for doing that regardless, now that's out of the way - I'll review.

The general gist of the show is that JesuOtaku is pretty much giving an introductory thing for anime shows for beginners and addresses shows that could work between any cultural barriers that might be there and where to get it. The review is in detail as most Channel Awesome videos are so he does bring up a lot about the show's running themes and pretty much almost everything as a whole. So I'll say as far as in-depth reviewers on Channel Awesome go, he probably is my favourite in bringing up points and being legitimate. Hell, I'll even say he's not as nitpick-y as some of the reviewers on Channel Awesome like The Nostalgia Critic or Sage.

Where does JesuOtaku fall short then? The comedy. I'm not going to say his jokes are outright terrible but I'll have to admit I haven't really laughed at any of them out of the ones I've seen. So while this does still make him really good at talking about the anime and that I really have a hard time recommending these reviews to someone without an interest in anime shows, whether they're just starting out like I am or hardcore like he is.

So, this is a mixed bag overall. There is no doubt in my mind that JesuOtaku has legitimate points and describes the pros and cons possibly better than any other Channel Awesome reviewer I've seen, he even helped me find probably the first 10/10 I've given an anime show. However, if you don't really have an interest in it or want to check anime out, I may suggest skipping this one.
