Sex & Nudity

  • In the beginning scene, there is a women against a tree that has a see through shirt on. Nipples are barely visible. Same women wears inappropriate clothing throughout the movie.
  • Hellboy is sometimes seen without a shirt

Violence & Gore

  • Non stop violence from the beginning to the end.
  • A man's jaw gets broken and all bloody with a lot of blood and gore
  • A man gets crushed under a giant wooden door. The result is a pool of blood.
  • A man's head gets suddenly severed and is seen going underwater with a lot of blood.


  • There are 35 uses of "Hell", including other derogatory terms.
  • Gruagach swears many times in one scene of the movie.
  • There are 3 GD's and to many F words to count. We left in middle of movie. No where near as good as last 2 He'll boy movies

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Hellboy frequently gets drunk and is often seen drinking tequila.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Baba Yaga is partially scary. Her movements are strange and disturbing.
  • The movie never takes itself seriously, so it's not intented to be frightening, but the monsters could seem scary to children
  • The giants may be frightening.

Violence & Gore

  • A character gets gradually smaller and smaller, then suddenly completely explodes in a pool of blood. Almost comical but very gory.
  • Giant demons come out from hell and begin killing people. Another one spits fire and burns everything.
  • Hellboy suddenly shoots Nimue in the head. Half of it explodes with an eye hanging down, but she quickly regenerates.
  • King Arthur cuts off one of Nimue's arms, then decapitates her. Very gruesome.
  • Hellboy gets unexpectedly attacked in an ambush by knights with giant spears. He's repeatedly stabbed and some spears get stuck inside his body. He's then electrocuted and almost dies.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Merlin begins to horribly deteriorate and decay because of his oldness. He quickly becomes a skull (while still talking) and then dust. His spirit comes out as a blue moth but is suddenly eaten by a crow. This last part is comical.
