Watch: 'One Small Step' Animated Short About an Astronaut Dreamer

"For those who support our dreams." Another wonderful short to brighten up your day. One Small Step is the first short made by a brand new animation studio called Taiko Studios. Founded by Shaofu Zhang, who worked at Disney for years on films including Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and Moana, the studio is a powerful new animation house that operates between America and China. Co-directed by Andrew Chesworth and Bobby Pontillas, who worked with the animators in China from their offices in Burbank, is about a Chinese-American girl with great big dreams of becoming an astronaut. This definitely borrows a bit from the Pixar and Disney playbooks, but it's still charming and beautifully animated anyway. Watch below. Thanks to Short of the Week for the tip. Description from Vimeo: "Taiko Studios presents the story of Luna, a Chinese American girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut." One Small Step

Alleged Batman costume test from Titans surfaces online

Although there were rumours a few months back that the producers were looking to cast a young Bruce Wayne for the upcoming Titans TV series, we’ve had nothing in the way of confirmation that Batman will be making an appearance in the DC Universe series.

In fact, just today we shared some comments from lead actor Brenton Thwaites, who stressed that “it’s a show that isn’t about Batman, and I think it’s important for people to know that and maybe not be disappointed that they’re not going to see Batman jumping from the ceiling and beating up a hundred guys.”

Now, while that may well be the case, it seems Batman could be making an appearance after all, with some alleged costume test images surfacing online via Twitter

Brenton Thwaites on the “f*ck Batman” line from the Titans trailer

As we saw in the first trailer for DC Universe’s upcoming live-action series Titans, there seems to be some serious heat between Robin and his former mentor and crime-fighting partner Batman, as evidenced by Dick’s “fuck Batman” line as he takes out a group of thugs.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Robin actor Brenton Thwaites has been speaking about that very line, stating that the idea behind it was to make it clear to fans that Titans will not be a show that focuses on the Dark Knight.

We’d already shot that alley fight scene before, and there was no punch to it,” states Thwaites. “There was no real exclamation mark. I think the producers wanted something that would kind of set the tone for the whole show. It’s a show that isn’t about Batman, and I think it’s important for people to know that

Geoff Johns discusses Robin’s “f*ck Batman” line from the Titans trailer

It had been rumoured that the live-action Teen Titans show would be going down the “hard-r” route, and that was confirmed this past weekend with the release of the first trailer for Titans at the San Diego Comic-Con International.

In addition to hard-hitting, bone-breaking action scenes, the trailer firmly set the tone for the series with Robin delivering the line “fuck Batman” as a group of thugs ask about the whereabouts of the Boy Wonder’s (former) partner before taking a brutal beatdown from the masked vigilante.

Speaking to Polygon, former DC chief creative officer and Titans executive producer Geoff Johns shared a few words on the line, and how it plays in to the character arc we can expect to see from Dick Grayson in the series.

“The trailer shows a piece of the tone of the show — the show’s not all that,” said Johns told. “But it does make you go,
