Storyline

Will Graham is a special consultant with the FBI. He has a special gift whereby he can empathize with any individual and put himself in their shoes. This means he gets to help solve vicious murders, especially those involving serial killers, as he can profile the murderer - their method, motives and personality profile. For a particular case, the FBI also seek the help of Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a highly-respected psychiatrist. Will and Hannibal hit it off, and Will becomes a patient of Hannibal. Little does he know or suspect that Hannibal might be the most wanted serial killer in the US. Written by grantss

Trivia

Cynthia Nixon's character, Kade Prurnell, is an anagram of Paul Krendler. Krendler is the male character from the Lecter books on whom her character is based (played by Ray Liotta in Hannibal (2001)). Lecter also liked using anagrams throughout the books and films. See more »

Goofs

The extensive, severe winter settings reveal the Toronto filming sites, rather than represent the Baltimore dramatic setting. Baltimore winters are mild, and snow rarely accumulates on the ground for more than a few days at a time. Yet snow covered landscapes and large accumulations of snow on the streets are common in the series, and there is snowfall to be seen through the window of Hannibal's dining room during nearly every meal. Alternate Versions

US TV network versions aired censored versions of some episodes (removing, for example, rear nudity, paintings showing nude figures and some scenes of violence) with a TV-14 rating. These cut versions were released on Blu-ray in the UK, many of which received the more appropriate 18 rating from the BBFC. However, the American Blu-ray editions of the affected episodes are unrated and billed as Producer's Cuts, which restore the previously censored footage. See more »

Fascinating psychopathy at its finest. Filling every thrill seeking part of the psyche.
5 April 2013 | by bla31425See all my reviews

The story is so packed with different things happening. It is forty minutes long, yet it feels closer to an entire film. It is quite fascinating and highly entertaining. It is not filled with eye candy, but with deeper dialog with some special effects. It gives the viewer a deeper insight into the borderline delusions of the main character.

The dialog is fantastically written. It is a combination of imagination and horror. This blend creates a psychological horror that grips you to you very soul. The only possible bad thing that I could say about it is Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) accent. It should be a higher class a more aristocratic richness instead of the thick coarse German accent, but that is merely semantics.

The series has a strong mentor-ship like connection between Graham and Hannibal Lecter that is improved by the clear mental instability of both. It makes you wonder what Hannibal Lecter sees for the future.

The Graham character is not much like the one of red dragon, yet it is a great improvement with the modernization of him. This is a rather exceptional series and I hope to see plenty of it in the future.
