How sad it is
Paularoc23 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
A young and talented high school football player is found shot to death in his car. Since his brother is a member of gang, the police first speculate that the killing is gang related. The Assist. Chief wishes to keep a lid on news of the murder getting out in order to avoid gang retaliation. The investigation at the high school reveals another possible motive for the murder. The actual motive for the murder is all too sadly believable. The interview scenes that reveal this motive and the culprit are, as to be expected, very well done. The side story of whether or not Rusty will want to meet his father is actually pretty interesting. A solid, if not exceptional, entry in this enjoyable series.

Out of Bounds

This episode and the previous one, Citizens Arrest, show the major differences between The Closer and Major Crimes. The Closer is definitely Brenda Centric and Major Crimes gives all the characters their 'time in the sun." That's what I like about it because I enjoy all the characters and the new recruit, Sikes, is a pleasant addition. She fits right in! After watching repeats of th Closer which I enjoy, Brenda's personality can get on my nerves because she usually does whatever will make her case, regardless of whatever else is going on. She never thought of anyone besides herself and I don't think someone like Fritz put up with that except that she would hop in the sack with him at a moments notice which is what he liked probably. Her putting her family second maybe taught her a lesson later on in the series. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series because the writers are getting a chance to explore each of the characters storyline and expand on it.
