After living in Taiwan after many years, I can say that this show depicts life in Taiwan very poorly from the very first episode showing Tainan as an undeveloped city. For some reason Taipei is this somewhat rich dream cosmopolitan city that everyone desired to live in. The name of the show is Women in Taipei, however it's focused on one female character and her boyfriends throughout the show. If you ever come to Taiwan you will see other cities outside of Taipei are developed and have a lot of the same things Taipei has. Taipei is not habited only by Taiwanese people, there are many foregin nationals as well and most people you will meet in Taipei or any other city are not as horrible as the characters from this show. There are many great people living on this island that everyone should explore! :)
I've been visiting Taiwan since I was a kid since my parents are Taiwanese. This makes me not want to visit anymore. I've never met any characters like the ones in the movie.
At times, it feels like a soft core porn as the main character has many sexual encounters. I think we get the point - she's a modern woman with sexual freedom. We don't need to see all of it- like a bad version of Sex and the City.
I'm giving it one extra star for all the places in Taiwan it shows. The scenes where she visits her family are much better. The main character is never happy, never positive and always negative, depressed and drunk even though she has friends and is doing well in her career - what she's always wanted! Except all she wants is the married guy. What a spoiled brat.
This show is STRESSFUL to watch.

This series throws one offensive stereotype after another at you like a desperate boxer throwing punches at his opponent. A show so bad that it's gotten big almost exclusively on bad reviews, generating publicity rivaling that of Squid Game locally within days of its release. The protagonist is supposed to strike a chord with the audience, but is outright obnoxious, nosy, self-righteous, self-pitying, and irresponsible from the get-go, making her impossible to identify with. Almost every character, from the parents to the interviewers to the landlady, is a stereotyping and ill-devised satire of their real-world counterparts, and every boring event seems to be designed to make you hate the titular city. This show is offensive on so many levels it will no doubt be revisited by many long after its conclusion for being the ultimate antithesis of everything good about TV series. Congratulations to Disneyplus and the writers, whose poor taste has spawned this unlikely hit.
