Plot Summary

Wendo and Mugeni are members of historically opposing tribes of an African country that divided power among themselves after independence. The couple tries to distance themselves from their families' politics due to past events and work independently from their families. But the pressure of the current election campaign pulls the two deeper and deeper into a ruthless power game full of intrigue. The country's population looks on restlessly and discontentedly at what appears to be an unfair democratic election. Meanwhile, Wendo and Mugeni's relationship faces huge hurdles to their political legacy. »Chaguo« is a Kenyan Romeo and Juliet story set against the backdrop of the difficult process of enforcing democratic elections in a country that has long since lost faith in reason and justice in politics.
