Life on the Circle Ranch in California (1912)
** (out of 4)
Decent documentary showing life in Santa Monica, CA for several cowhands. Yes, you heard that right. When one thinks of the beautiful Santa Monica it's usually not of horses, cows and various other farm items but this film shows that at one time this is all there was. With that in mind, this film remains slightly entertaining because it is rather interesting seeing the look of the land compared to what it is today. While watching these cowboys push cattle throughout the land I couldn't help but wonder what's in that location today. The film has some good images but it's main goal is to just show people what type of work is being done on the ranch. We see the cowboys put saddles on horses, see them brand cattle and various other jobs. It's doubtful anyone saw this back in 1912 and decided to head out that way as the entire film is just a bit too dry for its own good and drags on a bit too long.
