While walking home from her latest OB appointment, a very pregnant Esther Woodhouse is brutally attacked and disfigured by a hooded assailant. This horrible event seems to be a blessing in disguise when Esther finds consolation in a support group. Her life of sadness and solitude is opened up to friendship, understanding, and even acceptance. Proxy follows the life of three parents who have all shared the loss of a child. The first hour of the movie follows Esther Woodhouse (Alexia Rasmussen) and delves into her psyche. To help cope with the loss of her child Esther reaches out to Melanie Michaels (Alexa Havins) in a support group and they soon become friends. However under the seams there is a lot more to Melanie and Esther, prepare to see a whole new type of crazy.
