Storyline

When Nikki sees barefoot teen-ager Shannon Kelly run over by a car whilst fleeing somebody she sits with her until the ambulance arrives and later visits her in hospital, where it is clear she is frightened of a man. DS Masood tells Nikki Shannon has been sexually abused and suspects Abdul, her estranged stepfather. Shannon turns up at Nikki's and reluctantly agrees to go back to hospital. Meanwhile a gang of young Asian men are picking up and grooming white school-girls for the sex trade. They already have Shannon's friend Amy and go after two more,Hannah and Lauren. The pathologists investigate two seemingly unrelated cases - the remains of a young girl found in discarded airport luggage and a heavily tattooed man,John Dear, who died of toxic poisoning. Then a third corpse is found - that of Amy. Written by don @ minifie-1

A tough watch.
14 October 2018 | by Sleepin_DragonSee all my reviews

I've never been someone that's shyed away from the show, at times it's been tough watching, a mix of fire and dark material. And the I fell in love however is the toughest watch of the lot, indeed I've only now ma aged to read it, since its original transmission.

Obviously the BBC delayed transmission in light of the revelation of the Rotherham scandal. Even now though I find this one extremely tough to watch, it shows the whole cycle of abuse, the scouting, grooming and eventual misery.

It's very well made, very well acted, it has a fantastic scene with Harry in the bath, and his flat exploding, but ultimately this is an episode I won't watch on any semi regular basis as it is too graphic, and too realistic. 8/10
