A group of film-makers travel to a South American cemetery—where legend has it the dead never really died—in order to shoot a horror film. While filming, they are attacked by demonic bananas that proceed to kill all but one crew-member, who escapes, returning home to Europe unaware that an evil banana skin has stowed away in his pocket.
Paying tribute to scary classics such as The Evil Dead, A Nightmare On Elm Street and Jaws, this very silly comedy/horror short ladles on the splatter, with severed limbs and spurting wounds aplenty. It's extremely daft and occasionally in very bad taste (dubious highlight: the sight of a banana disappearing up one victim's butt), and will appeal to anyone who appreciates cinema of the absurd.
By the end of the film, a banana apocalypse is in full flow, victims all over the world falling to the ferocious yellow fruit in a welter of bright red gore. That level of craziness can only be admired.
