This fantasy anime is centred on Dariel, a soldier in the army of the Demon King. Due to his lack of magical skill he is fired. Shortly after leaving the demon realm he saves the life of Marika, a young human woman. He returns with her to her village and starts living as a human, keeping secret his demon past as humanity and demons have been at war for a long time. While his status quickly rises thanks to a series of successes things aren't going so well in the Demon realm. As the series progresses he learns more about his past and contemplates the possibility of having to face his erstwhile colleagues.
The fantasy genre of anime is fairly crowded so a series must do something special to stand out. Thanks to a degree of humour and not taking itself too seriously this manages to stand out and be a lot of fun. The action is enjoyable without fights that drag on for ages. There is some fan service but it is mild enough that it doesn't require censorship for the television version. The characters, especially Dariel and Marika are fun to watch. Overall I fine addition to the genre; it might not be a must see but it is still well worth watching if you enjoy fantasy anime.

It was decent, not terrible, not groundbreaking.
I feel sorry for the blonde demon general, they were like best friends and she never even got to see the dude after he was kicked out of the army and almost everyone else (including another general) knew his location and didn't bother to tell her...when she finds out she's going to go bonkers...
The main character isn't really op but he isn't really weak either, he's kinda just mid. The story itself could've been better but I enjoyed it for what it was which for me was a time killer.
I liked the green haired girl with the wind magic the most.

It's a good Anime, a solid watch,i'm usually very picky when it comes to animes. If your looking for magic and adventure this one has plenty. But In my opinion, these types of anime always have a deeper message, inbuded on them. And in the case of this one in particular for me it transmitted that family and home is whatever and whomever you choose And that people are defined by their actions, but also by how they atone, and redeem themselfs from mistakes. It also transmits the idea that no matter how you may think we are different from one another, color, race, gender, nationallity. We all share the same gensis, and we all value the same things. It shows the dangers of labelling and demonizing a specific group without knowing the full story, and it depicts modern conflits which are based on old feuds, passed on from one generation tio another, only to miss the bigger picture that those conflits benefit the ones that stand to gain from making people believe we are different. Watch it, you won't regret it. Hoping for a second season soon.
(14+) The rankings do not do this show justice. This was a great adventure anime because of its focus on family and reconciliation! It had a lot of combat, too, and was a comfortable series to watch that I think most people would enjoy. Also, I think this is the only anime where the two main characters have a child together during the story arc. Family is not just fluff in this anime; it is the basis around which everything happens. Overall, it's just a great series and I highly recommend it!
