Google, Ridley Scott, Anurag Kashyap Team for ‘India in a Day’
Google has partnered with filmmakers Ridley Scott (“The Martian), Anurag Kashyap (“Gangs of Wasseypur”) and Richie Mehta (“Siddharth”) to produce user-generated documentary “India in a Day.”

The project aims to capture a day in the life of India on Oct. 10. Participants are asked to film their day across 24 hours and upload it to Google. Those whose footage gets included in the finished film will get credited as a co-director. Mehta will direct and Scott and Kashyap will be executive producers. Filmmakers R. Balki (“Shamitabh”), Zoya Akhtar (“Dil Dhadakne Do”) and Shekhar Kapur (“Elizabeth: The Golden Age”) are creative consultants on the project. The film is scheduled for release in 2016.

Thykier’s Peapie to merge into new company Archery Pictures.

Former Scott Free London head Liza Marshall has joined forces with Kris Thykier in new film and TV production company, Archery Pictures.

Marshall who recently stepped down from her role as head of Scott Free London will become joint managing director of the new company with Thykier, who will shutter his company PeaPie Films, and move his staff and slate across to the new outfit.

Key executives at Archery Pictures will include Pip Williams, senior development and production executive, Mairi Bett, head of physical production, and development executive Kitty Kaletsky.

Marshall established Scott Free London four and half years ago and went on to produce films including Before I Go To Sleep starring Nicole Kidman, Welcome to the Punch starring James McAvoy and the upcoming Get Santa starring Jim Broadbent.

Marshall, Thykier Set Up Film and TV Production House Archery Pictures

London — Liza Marshall, former chief at Ridley Scott’s Scott Free London, has joined forces with Kris Thykier to set up film and television production company Archery Pictures.

Marshall will become joint managing director of the company with Thykier, who will shutter his company PeaPie Films, and move his staff and slate across to the new entity.

Key executives at Archery will include Pip Williams, senior development and production executive, and Mairi Bett, head of physical production.

Thykier, whose films have grossed over $325 million at the worldwide box-office, has two films in production: “Summer of ‘92,” directed by Kasper Barfoed, and “Adam Jones,” which he is executive producing for The Weinstein Company. Thykier is also in post-production on “Woman in Gold,” starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds.

Israel, Germany, France Join Ridley Scott’s ‘Life in a Day’ Format (Exclusive)
Venice – Israel, Germany, and France are joining Ridley Scott’s user-generated feature format “Life in a Day,” the collective filmmaking project in which people in an individual country upload footage of their lives on a specified day and the material subsequently gets processed and edited by a director.

The announcement was made at the Venice Film Festival where “Italy in a Day,” had its out-of-competish world preem Tuesday to positive reponse.

Produced by Italy’s Indiana Productions and pubcaster Rai, “Italy in a Day” generated 45,000 uploads, 627 of which were utilized by director Gabriele Salvatores.

Besides folks going though their day in Italy it also features an Italian astronaut in space, a sailor on a cargo ship, a doctor in Iraq, and an Italo immigrant in Shanghai.

Supermarket chain backs Oscar-winner’s Christmas Day documentary compiled from footage submitted by people from across the UK.

Kevin Macdonald has completed a new documentary in the “…in a Day” series, financed by supermarket chain Sainsbury’s and focussed on Christmas Day.

Christmas in a Day will debut on YouTube on Nov 29 and the 50-minute film is compiled from more than 360 hours of festive footage shot on Dec 25, 2012 by 114 families throughout Britain.

The director behind Oscar-winning doc One Day in September and BAFTA-winning film The Last King of Scotland put out a call this time last year for people to submit videos for the project, which follows Life in a Day (2011) and Britain in a Day (2012).

Like the previous instalments, Christmas in a Day is produced by Ridley Scott Associates and Scott Free London.

Italy to Get User-Generated “Italy in a Day,” Salvatores to Direct
Italy is joining Ridley Scott’s user-generated docu feature format “Life in a Day” with “Italy in a Day,” which helmer Gabriele Salvatores will direct.

Pubcaster Rai and Indiana Productions are producing the social filmmaking project under which Italians will be able to upload footage of their lives on October 26 to Rai’s website http://www.italyinaday.it.

Salvatores will select the most compelling footage and edit it into a feature which Rai Cinema’s 01 Distribuzione will release theatrically in Italy and Rai will subsequently air.

Salvatores won the 1991 foreign Oscar with “Mediterraneo.” His more recent pics include “I’m Not Scared” (2003), “As God Commands” (2008) and John Malkovich-starrer “Siberian Education” which Wrekin Hill is expected to relase in the U.S. later this year.
