Trivia

LIV is the name of a boat from Thorupstrand, a small fishermen's village in northwestern Denmark. It also means life. Growing up in a small village close to the sea, director Rasmus Kloster Bro was fascinated by the people who battled the sea in their small blue wooden boats. But it wasn't until finishing school taking work on the fishing-docks that he caught a glimpse of what the sea really means to the people of the coast; the water gives them their livelihood and occasionally takes a life in return. LIV is an attempt of an honest story, that doesn't pretend to be better or worse than real life. Thus, the cast is made out of local people in Thorupstrand, and their lives inspire the story of the film. See more »
