High in the mountains, two orphaned children keep their mother's death secret. They survive until the villagers destroy their innocence when they brutally assault the girl. Now, the siblings must protect each other to survive.
High in the Mountains on a secluded farm a widowed mother dies leaving her two children alone and orphaned. Fearing being taken away and split up they keep their mother's death a secret and survive off the land with no one to rely on but each other. The sixteen year old sister is one with nature, innocent, and unaware of the evils that exist in mankind. Her ten year old brother is traumatized and mute from witnessing a disturbing incident years earlier (the death of his father) involving the town's Mayor. As the girl transitions into womanhood a harsh brutality destroys her innocence when savage hunters led by the Mayor's son attack and rape her. A social worker from a distant city arrives to investigate but ultimately it is the siblings who must come of age to protect each other and survive.Written by
The girl came to collect the family's payment a few times now. Normally the mother does that. And the last time she came, she looked bad. I mean, really bad actually. The payments are only for the kids and the mother. Where is the father?

Magnificent and inspiring images, outstanding performances, wonderful music. A story told with few words that features excellent actors and an image heavy style of narration. This is what makes cinema poetic and inflames ones senses and imagination.
The plot about good and evil living all next to each other in the micro cosmos of an untouched Tyrolen mountainside is extraordinary and breathtaking. Thus, although far away from a daily urban life it can be transfered into nearly any community anywhere in the world.
The actors were chosen carefully and met the needs for such an epic movie by 100%.
Definitely worth to see more than once!
