Sex & Nudity

  • None. No sex or nudity shown in this movie.
  • I'm a flash back a strange man is shown in a shed with a 6 year old girl when her father finds them and send the girl outside. The man is said to have had is hand down the back of her shirt.
  • On a late night date, Mickey and Johnny go swimming they don't go fully nude. Johnny strips down to boxers(he is shirtless), and Mickey to a t-shirt (with bra) and panties. They just kiss and caress while in the water, but sex isn't implied (No nudity). They also just kissed at another time (Both are fully clothed. No nudity).
  • A young high school baseball player says all he cares about is "banging chicks." He and other players make crude jokes. One includes making fun of a fat boy, if he had enough grease on his lunch, and the boy retorts, "I used up all my grease on your mother."
  • A woman is physically harassed in a bar.

Violence & Gore

  • There is a brief car accident, but no fatal injuries. We see Gus with a bruised face and bandaged eye. Gus, nearly tripping over a coffee table, sends the piece of furniture flying with a kick.


  • One f-word and a half-dozen s***. A dozen uses each of "h***" and "a**." We also hear "bi***" and "bas***." Mickey calls her bosses at the law firm "jerk-offs."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some people are shown smoking, including one of the protagonist.
  • All of the characters in the movie drink. Mickey and Johnny drink straight from a bottle of whiskey, and take shots of tequila at a bar. Gus drinks beer in many scenes, including visiting his wife's grave, pouring her a glass. He also has beer with breakfast. He also smokes a cigar. One spectator at a game is obviously drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The car crash is very sudden and as the scene lingers it is unclear how badly anyone is hurt.

Violence & Gore

  • In flashback, we watch Gus beat a child molester to a pulp. He reacts similarly to a man who harasses Mickey at the bar, forcing him against a wall, hitting him, and threatening him with a broken beer bottle.
  • Mickey was nearly molested as a 6 year old, discovered by Gus. We see a man lightly caressing Mickey's back before Gus appears and begins beating the guy.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The scene we hear of a man almost molesting Mickey is intense
