Typical "Sun Pictures" movie. Warning: Spoilers
It doesn't have any pretension, it is an out and out commercial masala with a very strong Telugu flavor. That it is a remake of Gopichand- Anushka starrer "Souryam" accounts for that. Prabhu Deva directed , Vishal starring "Vedi" is a throw-back to the 80's & 90's kinda mass masala movie that made people like Rajnikanth , Chiranjeevi , Amithab Bachan household names in their respective states. But later even they realized they have to move on to different scripts & no longer audiences are enamored by such scripts.

Sample these. Brother-sister sentiment , righteous fearless police officer bringing down a notorious don , heroine who falls head over heels for the macho hero just because he grabbed her hips , loads of henchmen trying to look menacing with wired hairdos & mouthing curse words , revenge for revenge for revenge....!!!!

Movie does has its moments here & there. The flashback sequence showing how the siblings got separated packs a punch, well written & executed. But certain other sequence like that involving that cat & mouse game between Vishal & Shayaji Shinde doesn't live up to the same level of excitement that one got while seeing the original version where Gopichand , Manoj K Jayan & Krishna Bhagwan did very well & was hilarious.

Vishal has returned to his "Malaikottai" & "Thoranai" routine after a break with "Avan Ivan". It's sad to see actors of such potential wasting their time & effort in such average movies. Sameera Reddy has nothing much to do except making some irritating facial expressions in the name of comedy. Poonam Kaur has scope to perform & she has utilized her chance well. Sayaji Shinde reprises his comical villainous act once more. Vivek's comedy is copy cat of what Ali did in the original, only here it's less funny.

In Vijay Antony's music "Ichu ichu " is a foot tapping number while "Enna achu " & "Ippadi Mazhai" are delectable melodies.

R.D.Rajasekhar is the cinematographer & V.T.Vijayan is the editor.

Prabhu Deva needs to think of something novel instead of remaking movies from one language to another if he has long term plans to stay as a director.

On the whole , "Vedi" is a commercial masala with too much spice but less taste.

Bottomline : Typical "Sun Pictures" movie.

u can watch it once..second time only for it's action sequences.this film offers nothing but old script with fresh faces.

Vishal, Sameera have done well. it just another action flick with sister sentiments (which is a major twist before the interval).

camera is good , scenes are well pasteurized.

music is good songs are just like that passing.

action sequences are adrenalin pumping ones ..

editing is also good expected more from Prabhu Deva , but it is disappointing

good work by Vishal finally it's good to watch once ..:)

all the same kinda hero worship....almost all sequences are looking alike vijay's....this time vishal workship.....sameera looks gr8 but not as much as how she was shown in vaaranam aayiram...vedi may be an entertainer for all hero action lovers but truthfully the movies goes well only at certain times and even the most sentimental scenes are missing their root....the background score is OK for the movie but instead it would ve been done better as per my review...vishal looking gr8 after a long long time..he still have to prove himself much more after a lot of chocolate boy get-ups....and then comes vivek...with his masterclass A-jokes still playing a vital part in all his films , he sustains it....anyways VEDI s a good ONE-TIME watch...

Vedi Review- Another Blockbuster!

Movie: Vedi Rating: 4.25/5

Vedi is the first film of Vishal that I have seen. Undoubtedly, after watching the movie, the thing which comes in mind is that this is another blockbuster by Prabhu Dheva and Vishal. Its a complete Vishal film and also an out-and-out entertainer.

The film is very energetically packaged with great commercial elements generally required for a complete entertainer. The story of the film appeals at all the places. The action scenes are fantastic, plus the execution has been improved due to good visual effects. The comedy by Vivek is funny and will tickle your funny bone. The performances of all, especially Vishal, was good. I was able to realize that this man is really a great hero. The music is good and the background music is crisp. Although a remake of Souryam,Vedi manages to emerge as a great entertainer. Prabhu Dheva has adapted the screenplay and story very well and no one would be able to find any faults. The rest is done by the actors. The emotional quotient of the film is another positive factor. The climax is good as well as eye wetting. The brother and sister relationship has been understood well after watching this film.

On the whole, Vedi is a great commercial entertainer that would entertain you without any hiccups and you won't be able to forget it. If you are a fan of Vishal, like me, you will like the film. If you aren't, you would become after watching this great entertainer. Full on entertainer!!!
