Netflix's Sex Education: James Purefoy Joins Cast as Gillian Anderson's Ex
James Purefoy is signing up for some Sex Education: The Rome and The Following star has joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix dramedy starring Gillian Anderson, TVLine has confirmed.

Purefoy will play Remi, the ex-husband of Anderson’s sex therapist Jean and the father of her son Otis, played by Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game, Hugo). Purefoy will appear in several episodes, but not as a series regular; filming is currently underway in the UK.

Anderson broke the news herself with a tweet captioned “Happy-ish ex-families” that included a photo of her with Purefoy and Butterfield:

Showtime has just ordered the new series City on a Hill from Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The crime series will star Kevin Bacon (The Following), Aldis Hodge (Underground), Jonathan Tucker (Westworld) and Mark O’Brien (Halt and Catch Fire).

City on a Hill is created by Chuck MacLean (Boston Strangler) and based on an original idea by Academy Award winner Ben Affleck. FBI: Connie Nielsen Exits CBS Drama

CBSFBI will have to recruit a new cast member: Connie Nielsen is exiting the new fall drama after co-starring in the original pilot, according to our sister site Deadline.

Mary Harron to Helm Salvador Dali Biopic “Dali Land”

Fresh off directing a pic about the Manson Family murders, Mary Harron has lined up her next project. The “American Psycho” director is taking on the life of surrealist artist Salvador Dali in biopic “Dali Land.” Deadline broke the news.

The film will center on Dali’s relationship with his wife and muse, Gala. “Set in New York and Spain in 1973, ‘Dali Land’ is told through the eyes of James, a young gallery assistant who helps Dali prepare for a big show,” the source details. “While James hopes to learn some of the secrets of great art from one of the 20th Century’s greatest painters, he instead falls down a rabbit hole of glittering parties, searing personal battles, and an art world awash with money and intrigue.”

Harron penned the script with John C. Walsh. The duo have previously collaborated on shorts “Holding Fast,” “Armani,” and “Sonnet for a Towncar.

Allison — who reportedly ranked right below Raniere in the cult's hierarchy — last made headlines after she was seen chasing Raniere as cops arrested him in Mexico. 'Scream' Creator Kevin Williamson Signs First-Look Deal With Miramax
Kevin Williamson, the creator of Scream, Dawson’s Creek and The Vampire Diaries, has signed a first-look deal with Miramax, the production banner that is being rebuilt by CEO Bill Block, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Under the deal, Williamson will develop what the company calls "high-level motion picture genre content." More precise details were not revealed.

Williamson created the Scream horror franchise and wrote the 1990s horror movies I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Faculty. More recently, he developed the long-running vampire sudser The Vampire Diaries and created gritty shows such as The Following and Stalker.

Lena Waithe’s “The Chi” Renewed for Season 2, Ayanna Floyd Davis Named New Showrunner

Showtime is making itself at home in “The Chi.” Shadow and Act reports that Lena Waithe’s sprawling Southside Chicago-set drama will receive a second season. Series writer Ayanna Floyd Davis will also come onboard as showrunner in Season 2, succeeding Elwood Reed.

Created and exec produced by Waithe, “The Chi” recently aired its fourth episode, which reached “a 41 percent increase in viewership since the premiere.” Shadow and Act confirms that “The Chi” is Showtime’s highest-rated new series since “Billions.”
