Storyline

What would you do without it all? In this epic adventure, a family struggles to reunite in an American landscape void of electricity: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology -- computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights -- has mysteriously blacked out forever. Goofs

Throughout the series, a common television error involving firearms takes place. Usually whenever a gun is seen or pointed, a gun cocking sound is heard when the character is not cocking the gun or in some cases with hammerless guns that cannot be cocked. This includes after the sound has already taken place, such as when the character re-points the gun at another person. Doing so in real life with a semi-automatic rifle such as the ones used in the series would result in a round being ejected from the gun, which does not happen. See more »

Quotes

Miles Matheson: We lived in an electric world. We relied on it for everything. And then the power went out. Everything stopped working. We weren't prepared. Fear and confusion lead to panic. The lucky ones made it out of the cities. The government collapsed. Militias took over, controlling the food supply and stockpiling weapons. We still don't know why the power went out, but we're hopeful that someone will come and light the way.

Great first season, deserved its fate after season 2
24 August 2019 | by kythiaSee all my reviews

I loved this show. They did everything right at first, gave all sides to the story a face and real motivation for doing what they're doing. From the ex-Google bigshot to the career soldier, it was interesting to see how they ended up 15 years after the blackout.

Sadly, though, the writers made the common mistake of using a high-tech form of magic to explain everything. There was no way to write a third season without going completly whack and throwing all the serious drama that made the show great overboard.

Revolution will always have a place in my heart and its worth watching for everyone who likes post-apocalypse stories, but cancelling it was the right choice. A third season would have ended in total disaster.
