In this film we find two themes that Rosamunde Pilcher treats in her short novels: a person with terminal illness who doesn't want to tell the fact to his family (for example Wiedersehen am Fluss) and the case of children who don't know about their biological father o mother.
The most interesting of the film is how risky may be the plan of Richard Rosemore.
Der gestohlene Sommer is a good tragic comedy.Helmut Zierl(Edward),Patrick Fichte(George) and Mariella Ahrens (Kate) are good actors.
